Well I finally chose a side...for the moment.

I'm not that happy with the cost of HD-DVD movies currently and will be VERY finicky when it comes to my HD purchases, but I finally bought into the format war.

I couldn't help myself. TWO FREE HD DVD movies with the purchase of the 360 player addon! AND King Kong is included (although I'm not a huge King Kong fan). Three free movies in total; not to mention its the least expensive player on the market currently. That was a savings of at least sixty US dollars for me if I acted on the offer now.

I hope this was a good decision. I dwelled on it all week since I first saw it advertised in the Sunday paper (I bought it Friday). Just like every other technogeek drooling over this new format, I'm worried whether or not I chose the right side. Will HD-DVD phase out or will Blu-ray? I finally arrived to this conclusion after much thought: I think they're both here to stay.

I come to this conclusion because I keep reading of more and more companies preparing to release players that support both formats. Which leads me to believe that its going to be a long battle and there may not be a winner. ever. Just like flash drives there could be more than one format out there.

I'm happy. I have an HUGE HDTV and its a tragedy to watch DVD quality movies on it when I've seen just how much better it could perform. That sentence was just one of the strangest things I think I ever read myself typing out. I remember the day with DVD first came around and I didn't think it could possibly get any better than that; and here we are today. My god. Crazy.
