I traveled a one way distance of 12.5 miles

I was curious.

It takes me approximately forty minutes to get to work driving my truck and dealing with traffic. Awhile back I became curious about how difficult it would be for to make this trek either by foot or by bicycle. Well Saturday morning I woke up and within an hour decided that today was going to be the day.

It took me four hours on foot.

I don't know whether to say it was one of the dumbest things I did or something I'm glad I experienced. Well I suppose I can't say it was the dumb. I've never traveled such a long distance before so I really didn't know what was going to happen. The only negative experiences I had was not bringing a small towel that I could use to wipe the dripping sweet from my face and not packing enough water (thank god for gas stations). Also the muscles in my right foot were already slightly sore from me exercising all week, so it really hurt on Sunday. It's feeling better this morning, but yesterday...ouchie. I had a feeling that would happen. I just didn't think it would hurt that bad considering I was just walking.

Now I did get to see my city from a completely different angle. I mean, how many people can honestly say that they've witnessed their town/cities surroundings by walking around in it. Obviously there are areas of any city you wouldn't, and shouldn't, be in if you value your possessions or your life. Yet I think I can say I've experienced a good bit my city by foot and this half marathon distance is yet another I can add to it.

I don't know if I would do it again though. I would definately wait until I knew my body was prepared for such a strenuous act. I would also wait until the temperature dipped down a bit. Walking in 90+ degree weather: Not a great idea.
